The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee

The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee in Australia

Australia will hold a year long range of national and community events in this year to celebrate this historic event of the Platinum Jubilee of
Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

As Australians we express our respect and regard for the dedication Queen Elizabeth II has displayed in service of the Commonwealth and her deep and abiding commitment to Australia and its people.

Her Majesty commenced her duties as Queen of Australia. Her life has been one of after dedication and has carried out her duties with diligence and dignity, always upholding her deep faith as well as her respect for the constitutional tradition she was born into.

On a broadcast on her 21st birthday from South Africa, the future Queen declared, I declare before you all that my whole life, whether it be long or short, shall be devoted to your service and the service of our great imperial family to which we all belong.”

She has been a constant presence in a changing world. In Australia her reign has seen fifteen prime ministers with Sir Robert Menzies being the first. Her Majesty has visited Australia on sixteen different occasions from 1954 to 2011.

Australians have a deep respect and affection for the Queen of Australia.
