Christmas Island (1986) – not formally adopted

The flag is divided (Bends) from the top left to bottom left. The (Bends) upper triangle is green with the soaring Golden Bosun Bird and the (Bends) lower triangle is blue representing the sea with souothern cross constellation as appearing in the Australian National Flag. The gold disk in the centre field represents the island’s mining history and originally included to provide a background for the green map of Christmas Island.
