Queensland Separation Flag
1859

To mark the creation of the new colony of Queensland in 1859, this flag was raised at the official ceremonies in Brisbane to the roar of a 21-gun salute. The separation flag was replaced by the current Queensland State Flag in 1876. Today the old flag still flies proudly at the historic Newstead House, home of the first Governor of Queensland, on the Brisbane River.
