Mer Island (Murray Island) Flag

The flag of Mer Island which is in the eastern section of the Torres Strait is consists of three pales (vertical stripes), red representing red ochre, white, black represent the Torres Strait pigeon. In the canton a device of a beach hibiscus representing peace and authority on a white disc surrounded by eight six pointed mullet stars representing the 8 Meriam tribes. The flag was designed by local artist Andrew Passi senior.
