Featuring the naval cross of St. George emblazoned, the stars of the Southern Cross, the crest of the city of Sydney (golden anchor, crown and star) and six-pointed star “Sirius”, this flag celebrates the city of Sydney and commemorates the vexillological work of Captain John Nicholson RN and Captain John Bingle, who designed the first Southern Cross Flags for Australia.
