The Governor’s Standard – New South Wales
1981 – present
The Governors Standard also referred to as the Governor’s Personal Standard or Governor’s Personal Flag is a blue ensign with Union Jack in the Canton along the hoist on a blue field with the St Edwards Crown atop the State badge of New South Wales showing a gold lion of England in the centre of the red cross of St. George.
The Governor’s Standard was approved by Her Majesty The Queen on 15 January 1981. The new Standard was first used a few days later on 20 January 1981 when Air Marshal Sir James Rowland was sworn in as the 33rd Governor and has been used continuously ever since.
