Date: Flag released 6 February 2022
This attractive new Elizabeth II Platinum flag has been created to mark the 70th anniversary of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s accession to the Throne. The flag is a symbolic statement of the enduring relationship between Australia and Elizabeth II Queen of Australia.
The Queen ascended the Throne on the death of her father, King George VI on 6 February 1952.
The distinctive design features an effigy of Her Majesty in the centre of the field. The effigy is like the one used on our Royal Australian Mint currency designed by British engraver Jody Clark.
The hoist uses the royal insignia (Royal Cypher the personal emblem of The Queen) over a bold “70”. With the Stars of the Southern Cross in the fly.
The colours of the Platinum flag are royal blue (field) and gold inspired by the livery colours of the Australian Coat of Arms.
Gold may denote faith, prudence, wisdom, and constancy.
Royal Blue is associated with reliability and trust.
The Platinum flag is available for all to fly or display in celebration of the extraordinary reign of 70 years of outstanding service by our Queen, Elizabeth II.
The Elizabeth II Platinum flag is exclusively available from AUSTRALIANA FLAGS
